Tusshar, SRK, Farah: Celebrities who opted for surrogacy
Actor Tusshar Kapoor has just entered fatherhood and he couldn't more excited about it. The Golmaal actor opted for surrogacy to welcome baby boy Laksshya into the world and the Kapoor family. Tusshar is not the first Bollywood celebrity to opt for IVF. Previously Shah Rukh Khan welcomed baby AbRam through surrogacy in 2013, as did a few other notable actors. In Hollywood, though, the process is nothing new, with many celebrities opting for IVF. Here's a look at some celebrities - in India and beyond - who have welcomed bundles of joy into their lives with the help of surrogacy.
Tusshar Kapoor
The latest to join the daddy bandwagon, Tusshar Kapoor became a proud parent of baby boy Laksshya this June. Not only does this make the actor one of the industry's forward thinking people - having opted for surrogacy as a way to enter fatherhood, but he also one of the few to have become a single parent. Grandparents, Jeetendra and Shobha Kapoor, issued a statement saying: "We could not be more excited to be grandparents to Laksshya, and are completely supportive of Tusshar's decision. This is certainly a tremendous blessing, and an exciting time in our lives. Tusshar is a wonderful son, and he has proven, with responsibility, independence and kindness, that he will be a great father to Laksshya.” (Text: Kamalika Mukherjee; Image Source: Indian Express)
Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan, who was already father of two - Aryan and Suhana Khan - opted for surrogacy in 2013. SRK and wife Gauri happily welcomed their third child AbRam Khan who - going by his immense fan following on social media - has already won over much of his father's fans as well. Farah Khan
Bollywood’s ace choreographer and director Farah Khan got married to Shirish Kunder in her 40s. The couple tried two years for a baby. Finally, she decided to go through with IVF. Farah gave birth to triplets, on February 11, 2008. She has even suggested this procedure to many other women who were not able to conceive naturally.
